I hope the Sugar Bottom Fun ride goes well. It's sad to see the real race get tanked. But that's the way it goes. Ive heard that they could not make any money at that event? At $35 a rider I really do not understand that. The boys at boone make ends meet even after they pay seven oaks for use of the trails. They may not make much but they also do it because they love the the sport. That's saying alot! We get buy in Fort Dodge. After paying off my young event staff with a small donation, paying insurance and covering my misc expences we still come out with money to donate to local causes. We give to causes such as the Oleson Park Zoo, IMBA and this season we are helping the Central Iowa Humaine Society.
If ICOR is making $35 a rider with maybe 85 riders their pulling down a $2900. Got me but that's some good cash. But I can see making it a money thing. $35 entry is way to much! Hopefully they get things figured out?
Well back to work.
Have a great weekend all.

On to the next race
Well we had a great turn out Sunday. A large Sport and Expert class and a few new lady racers. The day was hot but not as bad as forecast. We had a few small issues that caused an extra wait for results but all in all when things were finished we had a great day.
Thank you to all the racers and their family's and all of my friends and family for there help.
Also a big thank you to Fort Dodge Parks and Recreation Dept. For the use of these great parks and there help.
Plus a big thank you to IORCA & IMBS for making off road cycling a better thing in Iowa. Also all the sponsors who support the teams, events and series.

Sunday Trail Work
All has went as planned. The Oleson Park trail south of the Band Shell is complete. Weeded, trees trimmed and downed trees cut and moved. The far south section loop which I built quite a few years back is becoming a small obstacle course, with five small log obstacles. But most of them will have an optional route around for hikers and beginner cyclist. I also added about a 1000 feet to one area due to Parks and Rec backfilling an area will tree waste. Worked out very well.
also in the near future we will be installing a trail marking system in the park. With all the service roads it gets hard to navigate the course if your new to the area.
I also did ride the course when finished and I can say it's a lot of fun. Even though I have been dealing with heat exhaustion from yesterdays trail work and trail run.
