So come on out and do some winter riding and have some fun at Amigos after the race.

Dubuque Tripple D Race

Well we went and gave it our best shot. The conditions were extreme! And the course was not much better. But that's the Idea. Due to a frozen our broken free hub I headed back after 8 miles threw the snow that was 6-8 inches deep in some places and very rutted. I did complete 16 miles total in 2:25 along with Brian Benson who was also having some problems.
Four bad ass cyclist did complete the event in a liitle more than 8 hrs. There were 56 paid cyclist ,35 started and 4 finished. We had a good time overal.
Fix the bike for this weekend and go again!
So this coming weekend we will be hosting our own winter race and the weather looks to be great!

Been a While

Well it has been some time since I posted here. But I am still around.
Just been riding, running and racing. Starting some training for next years season and the Hy Vee Triathlon.

Last week we ran the Living History Farms XC Run. Went well. I trimmed about 22 minutes off last years time. I was digging that. Next year I hope to cut things by 10 more minutes.

Just started a Yahoo group for the Fort Dodge Area cyclist, runners and mutli sporters. So check it out. A great tool for the locals to get together and chat about local cycling and running.

Also we have been working on the trails in Oleson and Loomis Parks.
Oleson parks trails are all cleaned up except for a section with a tree down that needs cut up.
Also i began cutting in a new trail along the valley by the band shell. We are planning a couple of races of some sort for 08.

Well time to go fire up the grill.
Have a great Thanksgiving weekend.
Matt

Well since this photo was taken I raced mountain bikes at Boone Iowa and finished 17th in my age group at the Iowa Games Triathlon.

It is an addiction! I have four more triathlons I plan on doing this season. Maybe more?

What a great sport!

Iowa Games Triathlon

Well this weekend was the Triathlon for the Iowa Games. Over 400 plus triathletes and some nice weather.
Things went well for me for the most part a 17Th place finish in my age group with a 1:25 time. My times are improving.
Brian Benson and my wife Dawn both took a shot at their first triathlon. Both found there first open water event swim to be a real challenge. But besides that they both finished. Brian finished 16Th in his age group at 1:20 and Dawn finished around 20Th in her age group with 1:54.
The training continues for the Twin Lake Triathlon Aug. 11Th doing that one as a team to help maybe get a new friend involved in the triathlon lifestyle. Then we will be going to the Big Creek Olympic Triathlon on Sunday.

IMBCS Seven Oaks

What a day! First real technical xc race this year. Felt great but after one good wipe out and a seat post that kept letting the seat slip up I only finished one 7 mile lap of a two lap race.
Course was really fun and fast when you were not climbing hills. Time to get a Thompson seat post for the next race.
Thanks to all the folks at Single Track Promotions for a great event.

HyVee Triathlon/ Awesome!

What a great event. We had so much fun. The boby felt great for the whole event. Had some problems at the begining of the swim but things worked out. The bike portion went awesome and had a pretty good cycling time. Transisions were way to slow but that will be delt with next time. Run went pretty good cosidering the heat. Felt really good when I finished.
I will do this one next year for sure.

Next will be the Ironman 70.3 in Madison Wis. next year. Until then I'll be doing many more sprint triathlons. Can't wait

HyVee Triathlon

Well the day has come just hours away to the start of the HyVee Triathlon. The nerves are kicking in. The biggest triathlon in the US! Maybe that has something to do with it?
After training very hard for almost a year just for this event I hope and pray that it goes well.
I have really become addicted to the multi sport racing events since doing the DesMoines Dirty Dualathlon last season. So far this season I have done off road dual athlons in Kansas and Iowa and ran at the Dam to Dam event.
The HyVee Triathlon is my main objective this year, but once it has past I will resume a few IMBCS mountain bike races and of course a few more triathlons. I have to at least make it to a few BMX races this season to. I Love racing BMX!
Also we are hosting a IMBCS Mountain Bike Race at Oleson Park in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Looking very forward to this event.
In 2008 River City Promotions will be hosting an off road Dualathlon in Fort Dodge, Iowa. This event is in the early planning stages but is coming along.

Well time to load the car, wish me well this Sunday at the HyVee Tri.

Five Days & Counting / HyVee Triathlon

Well the time to perform is getting close. yesterday I road 26 miles in the wind and did a 3 mile run following the ride. felt good! Took a bath in a tub of ice following the run and ride. Not as bad as I thought. Felt good.
Just a few more training days and it will be time for the HyVee Triathlon. Can't wait!

Dam to Dam

Well I'm still here. This last weekend my wife Dawn , Amber and myself ran the 5k run at the Dam to Dam. What a great event. We had a whole lot of fun. Also a great training day in preporation for the HyVee Triathlon.

Training for that event continues and is going well. I have four more triathlons planned for this summer and some running events. Maybe a few mountainbike races.

Photo is from Off Road Dualathlon in DSM back in April.

Loomis Park Trail Work

Well this week I made it to the LoomisTrail to ride and run a feew times. While at the park I cleared the trails of downed limbs and had to remove a couple of downed trees with the chain saw.
I set one new trail bridge in place a while back. But could not install the other new bridge I built because someone stole it! A 12ft 275lb bridge gone. I have an idea who is behind it.
No biggy though because I'll build a new bridge.
The trails are in very nice shape.
Also the folks from the FD Garden Club are thinning some of the lower timber area and it looks really nice.
Once things drie out a little more we will be adding a new tral section this year.

Also we will begin trail work in Oleson Park by May.
